Beverly Bridge over Columbia River Our neighbours to the south appreciate the benefits of Rail to Trail conversion and put their money behind it. Here is an example from Washington State of a just-opened refurbished railway bridge over the Columbia River, closed since 1980, that connects two halves of the longest Rail Trail in the nation. The governor touts the benefits for tourism and First Nations. The E&N corridor could do the same for Vancouver Island!
